Corley v. U.S.



Interpretation: interpretive canon that “ ‘a statute should be construed to give effect to all its provisions, so that no part will be inoperative or superfluous, void or insignificant. A more specific statute is given precedence over a more general one (U.S.S.Ct., April 6, 2009, Corley v. U.S., J. Souter).



Interprétation : une loi fédérale doit être interprétée de manière à donner effet à l’ensemble de son texte, de telle sorte qu’aucune partie ne reste inopérative, superflue, nulle ou insignifiante. En outre, une loi plus spécifique l’emporte sur une loi plus générale.
